For sale is an awesome and often forgotten vintage rock and roll machine from Gretsch. This is the model 8217, or more often known as BST-1500 "The Beast", was Gretsch's answer to the Japanese invasion of electric guitars from Yamaha and Ibanez. This guitar replaced the TK-300 in Gretsch's lineup as an entry level rock guitar as it was an easy to produce and less costly guitar. It has a mah0gany body with a 3 piece maple laminate bolt on 24 fret neck at a 24 1/2" scale length, two DiMarzio humbucking pickups all in a great deep natural mah0gany finish. Tonally this guitar is bold and brash. The clean tones are deep and pronounced with a great bass response that doesn't bottom out. When hit with overdrive or distortion this thing really screams, giving you some grinding rock and roll tone. Cosmetically in good condition, this is what we'd call a players grade instrument, with plenty of dings and scratches that give this machine some great character. Included with the guitar is a nice hardshell case. This is a true punk rock machine that will not fair to please any player.
