This is, without a doubt, one of the THE BEST sounding and playing acoustic guitars that I have ever played in my life. I've been playing since 1980. I've played just about everything there is to play. This is my first pre-war Jumbo. It's phenomenal!I got this from the original owner. The son of the original owner, actually. His dad bought it as a high school graduation gist to himself in the summer of 1941. After Pearl Harbor, he went into the US Army and it stayed home. He took incredible care of this guitar. "It was always in the case if he wasn't playing it" his son said. It certainly looks that way.  It does have 3 repaired cracks. 2 were repaired when I got it, but a third was starting to show on the back and I had it professionally sealed. There are two on the back, and one on the top. The one on the top is the more noticeable of the three, because of its location in contrast to the top finish. In one of the photos, I added some arrows to point to the location of the repaired area. It is possible that the tuners were changed, but they look correct for the period. And, I'm not sure if the nut is supposed to be black or not, but it looks original to me. When I got it, the saddle was a little too low, so I also had the saddle replaced to make it a more comfortable height. The top has virtually NO bellying. It's almost totally flat, like the day it was bought. The back of the neck is where you will see the most wear. He played this in church a lot. Oddly enough, the frets and fretboard are not heavily worn-in. The neck has never been reset and does not need to be reset. It plays effortlessly... I kid you not! It can handle every style you want to play. I have a You Tube demo you can view. Go to You Tube's site and after youtube dotcom, add this:  /watch?v=Vh4fg7zW1Ks&t=74s   I have it in Open D tuning. It projects, it is responsive and it just drips with pre-war Gibson vintage tone! It has minor spider web checking evenly distributed over the top, back and sides. There are no cracks on the side AT ALL. It has a few very minor nicks and bumps, but overall it's very clean, cosmetically. The case looks a bit too new to be from the 1940's, to me. But, it is old and the handle is replaced. This is a guitar that you'll love to play as long as you own it!
