G&L USA ASAT Bass, Ash, Semi Hollow Transparent Blueburst 1999 MINTSerial Number: B035701 Player's Perspective Essentially an L-2000 packed into an ASAT body and outfitted with a slightly slimmer neck, the ASAT bass is one of the coolest designs around. It's all about extreme flexibility, but presented in the simplest, most stage and studio-ready way possible. Two powerful pickups are hooked up to a plethora of switching options. Go right from in-your-face funk tone to smooth, round low-end that glides along underneath everything. Rock, R&B, funk, pop, blues, jazz - this is an all-purpose bass. Aesthetically vintage but electronically cutting-edge, this bass costs way less than similar American-made designs. Read on for specifics. Item Details This ASAT bass features an upgraded Semi-HollowAsh Body with Stunning Blueburst finish and a Quartersawn Maple neck. The maple neck is G&L's Modern Narrow C shape, which has a satin clear finish and a 1 1/2" nut width for a comfortable feel. The Light Satin Tint on the neck feels like an old friend - nice and broken in. The fretboard is rosewood with 21 medium jumbo frets, clay dot inlays and a 12" radius. For pickups, this bass is way ahead of the pack. There are two G&L MFD L-series humbuckers, which are powerful, veratile, focused pickups. They're wired to an enormous range of switching options. With some quick tweaking, you can get just about any sound out of this instrument. If you're looking for a versatile and powerful American-made bass, you'll have a tough time finding something for a better price than this ASAT bass. Overall Condition This G&L USA ASAT Bass is in pristine mint condition with no nicks, scratches, or blemishes. Electronics failed early in its life, and it was put away. No visible fret wear. The electronics did not work. Repairs at my shop included replacing the electronics and MFD pickups with a factory new set from G&L. That's it. While I had it out, I checked it all over, gave it a fresh setup and new strings for the sake of reliability. Serial number on neck plate verified with G&L. 1999 instrument in rare mint condition with reliable 2017 electronics and pickups. I fixed this one to keep but have too many in my small collection while I am trying to downsize my shop. Get it for an insanely low low price.
