THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. Check out my !Be sure to add me to your ! *Today I am listing the latest installment of mouthpieces and other sax gear which I am selling on consignment for saxophonist Frank Catalano. For those of you who may not be familiar, Frank is a true heavy hitter in the jazz world and has been featured on multiple Grammy winning albums. He is also the quintessential gear hound, having amassed a collection of over 500 mouthpieces! He now endorses and plays Jody Jazz mouthpieces exclusively so he is purging some of his massive collection of mouthpieces he has acquired over many years. Be sure to check out my other items for more great mouthpieces from this collection. There will be more to come later, so add me to your favorites list and check back later to see new additions. This auction is for a vintage New York Meyer alto saxophone mouthpiece that has been refaced. I'm not sure who did the refacing of this piece as it is not marked. I would advise that you might wish to have this piece checked out by a trusted mouthpiece tech and corrected if necessary. The tip opening measures approximately .070". I'm not sure what it originally was as the table has been leveled and the original tip opening is no longer visible. It is also difficult to see where it says "New York, USA", but you can make it out if you look hard. This is an 'early New York, USA' era Meyer. These have the same scooped inner side walls as the 'Meyer Bros.' era pieces, but with a thinner body which makes them a bit brighter. This is the quintessential bebop mouthpiece for alto saxophonists, as played by Phil Woods and countless others. The tip, table, and rails are in overall good shape, but there are a few minor nicks, which again, you may wish to have corrected. There is mild discoloration as seen in the pictures. There is just a minor bit of tooth wear on the beak, but no deep grooves. This is a great piece for the serious jazz alto player. Vintage Meyer alto mouthpieces are very prized for the excellent quality of their hard rubber compound, but they are getting more and more difficult to come by. This one will only go up in value as you enjoy playing it!Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking!
