Up for auction is an used Orange OR50 40th Anniversary tube amplifier. Amp is a reissue of the graphic amps made by Orange in the 70s the were used by Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. These amps were again made popular in the 90s by bands such as Hum and At the Drive-In. Tone of these amps are legendary and to die for; goes from classic to thick and very aggressive. The original amps from the 70s are known for being extremely hard to find and highly sought after. Its no wonder after the release the 40th anniversary OR50 it would to be highly sought after. After much fan fair and requests from customers Orange finally caved and started releasing a new OR50H amp. However unlike the original 40th Anniversary they do not have the glass front like the 70s graphic amps. Also I am not sure if the transformer are the same.Product Description:The Orange OR50H 40th Anniversary Guitar All Valve Amplifier Head, 50 Watts, single channel, 2 stage gain, HF drive Boost. Vintage cosmetics, tone and construction with extra bite. The Orange OR50H 40th Anniversary amp head has all the untamed aggression of the 1970s amps but with the choice of an additional boost between 9 and 10 for extra scream.In 1972 Orange launched an amp which came to define the Orange sound; years later it was dubbed the 'Pics Only' due the use of pictures and the absence of any text. Although not a reissue, the OR50H owes more than a nod to this vintage legend in its cosmetics, tone and even the construction techniques adopted.Featuring a traditional single channel with a three stage gain section, the real weapon in the OR50's arsenal is the HF Drive control. This is two controls in one! As you turn the control clockwise you will hear the power amp presence increase whilst adding an extra dimension of power amp gain.Along with a foot defeatable master volume, this is truly one of the most versatile single channel amps ever created.
