Vintage Shreiber & Sohne bassoon. From what I can tell, this is a very early example of a Shreiber bassoon from the 1950's or 1960's. The serial number is 179x, which matches on all joints. The bassoon comes with a # 3 bocal in decent shape, although it appears to have been reshaped in the past. My tech just performed a full service on the bassoon, replacing several pads and tenon corks. The bassoon plays perfectly and is ready to be played. Schreiber bassoons are are a great choice for the advancing student or professional doubler who is looking for a great bassoon without having to spend $10,000+. This is not a stencil bassoon, where Schreiber made it for another company. It's actually marked Schreiber & Sohne. I invite you to try this bassoon risk free.
