Up for sale, a 1997 Yamaha TRB-5F fretless bass guitar in excellent condition and perfect working order. Built in Japan, the TRB series are crafted using high quality components and represent a high value for the dollar. Weighing in at 10lbs 2oz, this bass has a substantial natural sustain, low end growl, and smooth articulate midrange that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with ground wound strings, this bass plays well with low action and solid intonation.The three-piece maple neck has a medium C shaped profile that feels fast, but still has some meat on the bones with a 1 13/16" nut width. The lined rosewood fretboard boasts a clean, no inlay look, with white side dot position markers. The neck attaches to the body with an extended tenon via six inset bolts on the back of the guitar, a nice touch as it adds to the resonance and durability of the instruments. The headstock sports a finished ash overlay which matches the body, pearloid inlaid Yamaha logo, and a set of gold tuning machines with Y keys that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.The ash body features deep figuring highlighted by a transparent charcoal grey finish with black pickup covers, knobs, and a solid brass bridge. Electronically, everything works exactly as it should with two alnico magnet humbuckers wired to master volume and pickup blend knobs, as well as active treble, middle, and bass EQ knobs. In terms of cosmetic wear, there is very little to speak of, with the only noticeable signs of use being very light buckle rash central to the back and a few stray faint finish scratches in the clear coat. This is a fantastic option for anybody looking to add a fretless to their arsenal that plays and sounds great!A hardshell case is included.
