1967 Rickenbacker 4005C Bass Project with OHSC!!! Has most of the parts!!!!
Estimated price for orientation: 3 000 $
Category: Bass Guitars
Class:
Description Brand: Rickenbacker Exact Year: 1967
Obtained at an estate sale, this 1967 Rickenbacker 4005C is an extremely rare bass! From what I could find out, the total first run of these from 1967-74 were a total of, possibly 200 instruments. I've seen John Entwistle and a couple of others with them, but that's it.
The bass has been modified with another neck pickup, possibly a Gibson EB pickup and the route would have to be filled or covered.
The frets on the bass have been pulled, my guess it was to receive a fret job that never happened or the owner wanted to go fretless?
It does come with it's two toaster top Rickenbacker pickups, one which meters on my Fluke at 11.7K, the other is blown and will need rewinding. The Rick trapeze tailpiece and bridge are here, as is original hardshell case, pots and switch, pickguard is not original. The tuners have been changed to gold Schallers, probably an improvement. There is belt buckle wear on the back thru the finish, though it probably could be touched up. I'm not sure if it's original, but the bass end of the fingerboard seems rounded as if the player rested his thumb there. I see these basses listed anywhere from $8000- $15,000 dollars. The serial number on the jackplate is GE 22##, which dates to May 1967 on the Rickenbacker site. Others have parted these out selling the case, bridge, pickups, tailpiece and a much worse conditioned body without a fingerboard for big bucks. I'd like to sell this to someone who'd want to put in the time and effort to bring this fine bass back to it's former glory. All in all this is a project bass, with a majority of the important parts here. It will nevertheless need a restoration and I because of it's condition, I can't except returns, but don't want any unhappy buyers either. Please ask all questions now, I will answer to the best of my ability. International ebayers, please contact me before bidding, Thanks!!!!
