This is a banjo based on a ca 1903 Fairbanks WL No 2 once owned by Jim Bollman. I saw he gryphon and knew I had to try my hand at recreating it. It's probably the most interesting No 2 I've ever seen....quite unique. The neck is of straight grained maple, cut dead on the quarter and very tight grained. It's got a 26 inch scale ebony fretboard with hand engraved white mother of pearl position markers. The pot is a maple laminated rim with a rolled brass tone ring. The 28 bracket shoes were salvaged from an old Lyon and Healy banjo rim ca 1900. The rim was badly damaged, but had great hardware. Hooks and nuts are original Orpheum, but resemble the ball end Vega nuts, while the grooved hoop is newer. It had been chrome, but I removed the chrome down to the nickel layer beneath. I made the neck clamp for this banjo as well. While shown with no tuners ... it will ship with 5 new 5 star tuners with the more attractive grained buttons installed, a new No-Knot tailpiece, and a 5/8" maple and ebony bridge. Basically ... I'm selling the entire banjo for what the commissioned neck would have cost had I been commissioned to do it. It will serve somebody well for a lifetime. Thanks for looking ....... Wyatt Fawley
