Well known as one of the best ukulele makers in Japan, he has a two-year wait list.Shimo-san's instruments are hard to come by, even in Japan, and almost never for sale elsewhere.This one-of-a-kind instrument has one-piece mahogany front, back and sides with Outrageously shaped "surf" body with lots of crazy angles: diagonal Fender-style headstock, radical fretboard end, diagonal oval sound hole and curved bridge.Radically shaped cutaway with 14-fret joint, cutaway to the 17th fret on the 1st and 2nd strings.Hand-carved bird's-eye maple bridge in the shape of a smile, and a bird's-eye maple radius fretboard, like a vintage Fender Stratocaster guitar. The headstock overlay is also bird's-eye maple,with Shimo logo in colorful paua abalone shell. Matching ivory-colored Micarta nut and compensated saddle for perfect intonation all the way up the neck. Awesomely brilliant-colored paua shell top binding, and a paua shell and black/white/black pinstripe rosette around the egg-shaped sound hole.Paua shell bound fretboard even headstock binding, accentuate the unusual fretboard extension and the Fender-style headstock.Paua shell shell side markers at 5,7,10,and 12th frets, mirroring the fretboard markers.Top-of-the-line Gotoh 510 series vintage-style brass gear tuners with pearloid buttons.Radius frets for ease of playing... even bar chords and complicated jazz chords are effortless.Carefully made with an attention to detail, and with a beautiful oil satin finish.
