Vintage Marshall JCM 800 2203 100W Lead Series with matching 4x12" Cabinet Year 1982
This auction contains:
1x Vintage Marshall JCM 800 Lead Series from 1982 | Model: 2203 100W | Serial number: S/A 01531 P1x Marshall 4x12 inch Cabinet Lead Series Model 1960A | Serial Number: 8039 (Please refer to speaker dating!)4x Speaker Celestion G12-65 15 Ohm's | Model: T3054 | Serial Number: AQ284x JJ EL-34 tubes (New)3x JJ ECC-83 Low Noise tubes (New)Dating of the amp and cabinet:This is the website I used to date the components: https://reverb.com/news/how-to-date-a-marshall-ampIn case you know more about the dating, fabrication or any other information about these components to be sold, do not hesitateto contact me so I can correct the information in case I got something wrong. Because I really want to get these dates right for the buyer!!! *The amplifier has the Serial Number: S/A 01531 P - The letter 'P' is Last, so the amp is pre 1984 - The 'P' stand for production year 1982 - The 01531 is the production number*The Cabinet has a serial number on a plate 8039, but apparently that is not the best way to date such an old cab. Instead I dated the Cabinet based on the Speakers and looked up in forums to check if numbers make sense. And they do so please consider the speaker dating below!*The Speakers Celestion Model: G12-65 15 Ohm's | size: 12inch | Model: T3054 | Serial: AQ28 - On the images you can't really see the whole serial as the 'A' is very very barely visible. - Format is month-year-day, so: - 'A' stands for January - 'Q' stands for 1982 - '28' stands for the 28th day - so the date is 28 January 1982 Also, the serial numbers on the speakers are identical, I checked them all, I planned to add an image of each and every one, but that turned out to be more than I could contain in the images.*The 'certificate' on the chassis as you can see in Photo number 2 has the information: - Anna (Allthough that's red, it could come from anywhere...) - 2203 - Test: 12/2/82 with a signature, so the number work out correctly with the stamped in serial number. So the numbers make this an 1982 Marshall JCM Lead Series. Again, if I am wrong or I interpreted something wrong, do not hesitate to tell me! Also if you are interested , please look at the very detailed images!!!Condition of the amplifier and cabinet: The amplifier housing and the 4x12 cabinet have general wear, show decoloration, the 'leather' is torn at some spots. All speakers are in perfect shape, NO cracks, NO tearsThe amplifier is in very good shape and has perfectly new JJ ECC83 Low Noise pre-amp tubes, and JJ EL-34 power-tubes installed. There is NO external damage to the amplifier or any of the components. Since this amp is about 35 years old, the electronics can off course degrade, as most electronics do.I cannot guarantee that every component is original because of it's age and lack of documentation.A mix of new and old Marshall Potentiometer-covers are included, of which only 3 MAY be the original, the other 3 are some post 2000 Marshall replacements. The IN-/OUT puts and switches of the amp work flawlessly(speaker, mains, resistance, jacks, etc) and I playtested to make sure the amp plays fine without noise, which is the reason I ordered new tubes for the amp. The previous ECC83 were broken, made noise and so I simply replaced them without adjusting. The JJ Low Noise tubes are rather cheap tubes, but I thought that the buyer will probably install some specific tubes, so I didn't want to install specific, expensive ones. The amp plays very clean and DOES NOT make any abnormal noise. The Master and Preamp potentiometers grind a bit when turned while the amp is on, they DO NOT make any noise if they arent touched, it is just their age, they either need a good cleaning to get them to last a bit longer, or even replacement if the amp is played live. But I leave that option up to the buyer since right now I do not see a reason to replace them, when played at home.I always took care of the amp, allthough I am not the first owner. I bought it from a passionate musician who didn't have room for it anymore. I bought it in 2006/2007 and I have always stored it in room temperature, clean. It was never exposed to any extreme conditions. NEVER got wet, was NEVER dropped, NEVER been tampered with, NEVER endured shocks while the amp was hot/running/cooling, was NEVER used without a load connected to the amplifier. Please take a good exact look at the images I provided, I only have 12 Photos to work with, since ebay doesn't allow more, and I crammed everything in at the highest resolution and clarity as I could.Sound of the amp:The amp sounds very AC/DC, rough, super fat, has a very lightly crunchy clean and has great response to the types of pickups used, Single coils sound strat'ish, hollow and accoustic and the ampdelivers the necessary twang. On any Humbucker you're in for a treat, Neck PU's are very wide and have great depth, Bridge is clear and distinct. The gain/pre-amp can be controlled very nicely with the Master Vol of the guitar, and even better with a set of 'volume capacitors installed' in the guitar. NO abnormal noise, and even with the Master and pre-amp over 50%, 75% nothing abnormal. This amp is loud, very very loud. And runs pretty hot. You can play at room volume, but the amp sound a lot better if you can crank it a bit.
Need additional information?
If you would like more information or images, send me a message per ebay with your email address if possible, so I can get you the needed information as soon and exact as possible.
You can write to me and get an answer in either english, french or german. This amp weighs about 65Kg in total and is big, the head is weighs about 22Kg and is heavier on one side because of the transformer. The cabinet weighs about about 40Kg and is hollow inside. Putting the head on the cab, holding it together somehow, would make a 'bad parcel',so I'll have to send the head and cab in 2 separate parcels. That way both are lighter, cheaper and more easily balanced and most importantly,I can then wrap it in bubble wrap, make sure it arrives in the condition I sent it off, we don't want this masterful piece of history breaking on it's way!Shipping:
I will initially only add a few countries to the shipping prices, so that I can make absolutely sure that the correct prices are displayed, and due to other problems I've recently with certain countries.
Shipping is essentially possible worldwide, so if your country is not listed in the shipping section at the top of the auction, please send me a message with your address, and I will send you an answer with prices and/or options withing a few hours the same day, and I will also immediately add your requested options to the auction in case you do decide to buy, everything works flawlessly, and you officially have the agreed upon cost displayed. I always ship expensive material with an assurance covering the amount, or more, the buyer pays in ebay.
Question asked close to the end of the auction will also be answered by myself as good as I can, since I usually wait at the computer for any questions coming up an our before. But please do yourself and me a favour by asking as early as possible, so I can get the information right the first time!!!You can contact me and get an answer in english, german and french!
