Cut 1 is the tool to use if you have mounted your Schoeps Colette microphone in an environment which might be bumpy. An example of this would be in a car etc driving or mounted on a Low Loader. The Cut 1 greatly reduces vibration noise and makes the experience enjoyable rather than terrifying. Another use would be to dampen handling noise if your boom op. is not used to dealing with Schoeps microphones! Obviously one would want to train the boom op over time and then remove the Cut 1 and keep it for the bumpy ride days instead. This Cut 1 is part of my personal kit and I have owned it from new.
