Description
This is a very old pernambuco TOURTE violin bow. The bow was completely restored. Renewed finish, new 28 ga German silver wire and new goat skin grip over the wire. The frog is half lined, German frog polished and cleaned. The tip is not original , replaced by a luthier, but not me. There are NO REPAIRS on this bow. The TOURTE mark is barely visible. After much research the marking is a very old version of TOURTE. This is quite a beautiful bow. The oldest Tourte I have ever worked on. The weight is 68.5 g
The length is 28 1/2in
The balance is at 9 5/8 in. The bow is absolutely fantastic. Great control. A real pleasure to play. Very very nice.
Pricing this bow is difficult. The UK has similar bows selling in the $8000 range. Other era Tourte bows are in the $3000 range. And everything in between. A bow is what its worth to you. I will price based on my investment and Restoration time. My remastered bows are priced to own. This bow has been re-haired using Mongolian Mare top quality. NONE of the bow hair I use is from slaughter houses as is most. The hair I use is collected daily by combining and grooming. Then the hair is sorted. GUARANTEED By my AMERICAN supplier. I am using a nice fine strong hair. This is a beautiful bow.
We price our bows so its possible to own a great pernambuco bow, without paying thousands.
I am a repair and Restoration luthier. I worked on the finish restoration for weeks. Saving the original finish as much as possible. Please note, there is a light section in the wood at the last 2 " toward the tip. It's just part of the wood grain. PLEASE NOTE: ( beginners), even though the bow is very old, the hair is new. You must rosin the bow properly in order to get proper sound and feeling from the bow. I recommend first powered rosin, for a good rubbing. After that now use your favorite rosin. This bow is clean .It will take a little wile for the bow to reach potential. Please ask me anything. Please ask anything. Thanks for looking. Free shipping USA 48 only. No overseas shipping.
