A fantastic antique french violin made by Laberte after Nicolas Lupot circa 1930.Fine antique french violin made after Nicolas Lupot circa 1930 by the Laberte workshops. The violin belongs to the "A la Ville de Crémone" series, which was one of their top levels at the time. The choice of woods is exceptional, with a top made of two parts of spruce of beautiful and very regular narrow grain lines. The back is made of two pieces of wonderfully flamed maple, the curl horizontal. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood. The oil varnish, of the purest quality, is of an orange-brown color and entirely original. The work is awesome, the purfling precisely inlaid, the button of the neck well rounded, the f holes nicely carved, and the violin even kept its original rosewood pegs with olive gold end. The body is rather elevated, with a very nice edges work. The violin remembers the work of the best french makers of the time, such as Gustave Villaume or Eugène Langonet. The violin is in an excellent condition, without any crack, just scratches on the varnish under the feet of the bridge. On the inside back can be found two original labels of the Laberte workshops, "Modèle d'après Nicolaus Lupot Luthier rue de Grammont à Paris l'an 1798", and near soundpost "A La Ville de Cremone, Ateliers de Lutherie, 1780".The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a new rosewood tailpiece with bone fret, a rosewood chinrest, a Despiau bridge, a new soundpost and Thomastik Dominant new strings set.The sound is of the highest concert level, mature and brilliant, projective and powerful, responsive, easy to play, a fantastic french violin that you will love !Dimensions are the following :LOB : 360 mm.Upper bouts : 172 mm.Middle bouts : 117 mm.Lower bouts : 212 mm.The instrument comes with a new rectangular case.
