Fibes SFT Crystalite Amber Acrylic 5.5x14 Snare Drum: Like New, MINT, Never played! All original heads! If you are looking at this drum, you know that this rare find Austin Era Fibes Amber Crystalite Snare drum with the prized SFT Snare Strainer is impossible to find these days. Tommy Robertson, the owner of Fibes Drums, made some incredible drums during the renaissance of Fibes in the mid 90s-early 2000's, bringing craftsmanship and expertise to the manufacturing process. The bearing edges on these drums are precision cut to the most exacting tolerances and make for one unbelievable sounding snare drum. The drum is super sensitive, but still possesses that FAT and WARMTH underneath that hits you in the chest sonically. I am the original owner of this drum and it was ordered along with two other snare drums to go with a Fibes Bonham Style 26,14,16,18 Amber Crystalite Drumset. The other two matching snare drums, 6.5x14 SFT & 7x12 MFT, that are also currently on auction. I am the original owner of all of these drums. Also, the drum has Puresound Premium Snare Wires that were made by the original owner (the old man!) of Puresound when they were still great wires around 2002! They sound unbelievable on this drum. This is a gem of a drum with what is arguably the best Super Sensitive type snare strainer (STF) ever built! It functions flawlessly. You won't find another like it. It is in MINT, Collector's Grade Condition. Shipping is $35 anywhere in the lower 48 states. Check out my other auctions for rare, mint condition drumsets, snare drums, parts, and accessories. I have the smaller brother and big brother to this drum also for sale currently. Bid with confidence with my 100% positive feedback. The Fibes SFT snare strainer, a design exclusive to Fibes, is the same original design that was conceived over 30 years ago. It is made in our own factory out of solid brass and other machined metal parts. Their are no internal springs or cams to break or wear out. The wire snares, also made at our factory, are kept under constant tension regardless of the snares being switched on or off the drum head. This gives Fibes snare drums the sensitivity of a parallel action-style strainer, without the hassle of a sophisticated snare system. When playing a Fibes snare drum it is responsive in all areas of the head, from the outside edge to the center of the drum. The butt plate on the opposite side of the drum is just as unique as the SFT strainer. It is not attached to the shell, but to the tension casings (lugs) on either side. An adjustment bar inside the butt plate allows the vertical setting of the snares for proper on/off snare sound. The SFT is more crisp and articulate than the MFT, and is recommeded for drummers playing Jazz, or Symphonic music.
