The Phoenix "Da Vinci" combines the merits of the Standard model with the optical features of the instruments of the Medieval and Renaissance period.
Very beautiful, selected flamed maple, the finely worked rosette under the keybox, the antique oil/wax varnish and the extension of either a second trompette- or a third drone-string make the "Da Vinci" a perfect all-round instrument for all conditions and performances of historic music.The changed soundboard construction changes the tension and the thickness and the large rosette make the instument give an amazingly open and "woody" sound.I don't have a link to this specific model but this youtube video is the closest I could find. The video features the Phoenix Standard model and by comparison, the Da Vinci model has more pronounced sound. Custom Handmade order built by Helmut Gotschy in 2003. Slight discoloration on the finish because of age, and 2 areas of small cracks, on the bottom corner and on the rosette, because it had been sitting in storage for a couple years without use. Sounds beautiful, recommended for advanced players. Full size -28" x 10" x 4" measurements 5lbs Comes with custom hard top carrying case, leather belt, pitch pipe, Walthari rosin, lubricant, and cotton.
