This beautiful horn is a really nice example of the legendary King Liberty model 1045 pro trumpet of the early 1970s era. This trumpet is an incredible player and a fine looker too. The valves are buttery smooth and quick and the slides have been lubricated. The beautiful shiny gold-lacquered finish is 95+% intact (wow!) and has been nicely preserved. There is some light handwear / fine scratches on the finish, but as you can see in the pictures, it holds a beautiful shine and was well maintained. This trumpet was an extremely popular professional model in it's day and plays and functions as well as most modern pro trumpets. The build quality on these vintage Kings is extraordinary. Leadpipe is in great shape. All parts and everything are intact. No major dents, but there are a few small dents and dings from what is considered normal wear. Bell has fancy engraving and reads "KING LIBERTY 1045 KING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS U.S.A." This horn has the classic and unique King Liberty tuning slide brace, art deco styling throughout, mother-of-pearl valve tops, adjustable 3rd slide stop rod and traditional waterkeys. Serial # is 469XXX indicating it was made in the early 1970s (approx. 1971) when horns were built to last forever! It's 100% complete and ready to play right out of the case. All joints on this trumpet are solid and the horn is one pretty baby. This one is very free blowing and is definitely suitable for serious player. It has a darker thick rich tone that is seldom found in many modern pro horns. These trumpets are highly versatile and great for almost any musical setting, including jazz, big band and concert band.
