Description TONY HUNTCUSTOM SERIES 1Bali’ Ha’iTEAKWOOD.A PERFECT GUITAR.HIGHLY COLLECTIBLEEXTREMELY RARE1988FOR COLLECTORS ONLY.[ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT:THIS IS A HISTORIC AMERICAN GUITAR.Semie Moseley is one of the true icons of American guitar history. His namesake guitar, the Mosrite, strikes a chord of rock music history for all us. The Ventures, the Ramones, Joe Maphis, and every artist who has played a Mosrite is part of this history. Also, part of this Mosrite history are all of those luthiers who worked with Semie Mosely on the Mosrite guitar and later become well known luthiers on their own. These include Semie's brother, Andy Moseley, Bill Gruggett (I have several of Bill's guitars that are astounding), Joe Hall (thanks for the Hallmark), E. F. Elliott (still doing it), Bruce Wilson, Gene Moles, and others of which ...TONY HUNT is THE MOST INTRIGUING.This is some information that we have found online:
In September 1981 issue, Guitar Player Magazine Interviewed 3 members of The Ventures (Don. Bob and Nokie), Nokie talked a little bit about Hunt guitar. Nokie was photographed with his Hunt guitar.G.P: " Who built the custom Nokie Edwards model guitar you're using now?" Nokie: "A guy from Little Rock, Arkansas, named Tony Hunt. He's a real Ventures fan, and he wanted to make me a guitar. He wanted to build it just exactly the way I wanted it. I like the old Fender neck, like on my Telecaster, so I gave him eh measurements and he duplicated them exactly. T told him I wanted this Scruggs tuning peg on the low E. and Bisgsby Palm Padals--that stretch the string a whole step, half step, however you want to set them--on the second and third strings. On my Telcaster I've got four Palm Pedals."

The "tony hunt" you are looking for is Anthony Baron Hunt. Tony was born on October 29th, I believe the year would be approx. 1944. I met Tony when he and I were attending Abilene Christian College, now known as ACU. Tony was married to Sandra, known to me as Sandy. He has two sons, one I only knew as "little tony" and a son born in Abilene, Zachary Shane Hunt. Zach would be in his 30's now.
Tony was stationed for a while in Hawaii, prior to our meeting at ACU. He was majoring in Clinical Psych. Favorite pipe tobacco was one he found in Hawaii, known as "Three Star Blue".
Favorite hang out in those days was a pharmacy/coffee shop across from the ACU campus.
Tony was an avid guitar fan, also harmonica, archery, shooting sports. Tony would be approximately 63 now.
He lived in Victoria for a time, employed briefly at Devereaux Foundation, then I believe as a store manager at JC Penney automotive. In Victoria he resided on Rose dr. His wife worked at Citizens Memorial Hospital, where she was an R.N.
From there, he and his family moved to north little rock. My wife and I visited them in their home in 1980. He did indeed have a guitar shop, and it seems the name guitar clinic is accurate but I an not certain.
I believe his son, Zach, was a candidate for a master's in physical therapy from the University of Central Arkansas, possibly in 2001. I could never make contact.
He was a good friend and I would enjoy hearing from him again. He was always good with his hands and never released a piece of work until it was exactly the way he wanted it down to the most minute detail.
He was indeed an avid Ventures fan, as well as Dwayne Eddy, and Roy Clark. Roy Clark also purchased on oh his Guitars.
If you own a tony hunt guitar, you would be a complete and total moron to sell it, no offense. Hope this helps you out.
I believe him to still be in the state of Arkansas, probably in the area of Warren, North Little Rock, or Conway. He and his wife were originally from North Carolina, Hendersonville and Asheville, so those locations are also possibilities.
Hello , i am Ron smith from little rock ark. You Have my old hunt les paul copy by tony hunt.. Made in 1982 for some one who paid a thousand dollars befor he passed away. Tony did it as a favor to me by selling it to me for a thousand more on the condition that if i ever got rid of it , that i would make him first offer.. Tony made a matching Bass and strat just like your paul for nokie edwards and bob bogle ( bob died yesterday.june 17,2009 at 75 years old.. he was a former brick mason from tacoma washington. ) I know tony very well / he is no longer making guitars but is a police officer in perry countr ark.. Ps the Ventures would never let tonies guitars go.. I was there when nokie and bob piched them up.

1984 Mosrite assembled by Tony Hunt
Tony Hunt bought parts from Semie after Mosrite Jonas Ridge , NC factory's shutdown because of fire.
Tony Hunt and Semie Moseley were good friends and Tony often helped out at Semie's North Carolina factory. (see "Walk Don't Run; Story about The Ventures First edition, page 272)
 Hey  XXXXr,
I know you have a Hunt guitar and in the past was seeking information about it's builder Tony Hunt. If you have the new Ventures book, look on pages 246 through 248. You will find the answers to your questions about who Tony Hunt is and where is he currently located and what he is doing. Yes, I have read this part of book and pleased to know that Tony is doing well as of 2002 at least.  I wrote to Del, the author of the book and asked him a few months ago whether he had more updates about Tony. Del replied: "....When I interviewed Tony in June of 2002, the only personal information he volunteered was that he was 58 years old. Otherwise, he stuck to talking about guitars, Semie Moseley, and his health problem with the chemicals that forced him to change careers. It was more than enough to satisfy my needs for a Ventures book...."
