I am selling my Ardern violin, which I have had for a number of years. It has a beautiful full sound and is a joy to play. Being 7/8 scale length it does not require so much stretch but still retains the body and sound of a full scale length instrument. Job Ardern was born in 1826 and lived in Wilmslow, Cheshire. His passion was making violins and he took his time completing them. He apparently did not strive to sell any and on his death in 1912, Hills of London obtained his stock of violins and completed the ones that were unfinished. I first came across an Ardern in Bournemouth in a violin shop and was amazed at the sound. I wanted to purchase it and the dealer insisted that he wanted to repair where the top had become un-glued. I agreed to return the following week to find that he had decided not to sell it. I was fortunate to have found this one a few years ago. The only reason I have decided to sell it is that I use two violins with different tunings and it helps my intonation to have the same scale length on both.   I would prefer this is collected in person, however I will post tracked and insured and it will be carefully packaged. Postage/ins. will be at cost, any excess paid will be refunded.
