Description
Exact Year: 1955

Olivia's Vintage would like to present this original early 1955 Fender Esquire in its original Blonde finish, with an original 1957 Fender Esquire neck with the "V" neck profile. We are speculating that the original owner of this uncirculated Esquire, for reasons unknown, had the neck replaced by Fender in '57. It's possible he favored Fender's new neck profile, and ordered the replacement neck for that reason. The string tree is from '57, but it appears the tuning keys are earlier and most likely the original keys to the guitar from 1955. The serial number dates the guitar to early '55, but the factory tape in the control cavity dates to November of 1954 along with the name "Virginia", and the one readable pot dates to the 37th week of 1954. In the photos below you will see the matching serial number hand-written underneath the finish on the top of the body, and again on a piece of masking tape that was applied to the underside of the tailpiece. All parts on the body are original. It even has the original "ashtray" cover with the factory solder on the underside. It has a great playing neck with original frets that are in amazing condition with very little wear. The weight is a very comfortable 6 lbs. 15.6 oz. A later '60's Fender hardshell case is included. This vintage Esquire is in great shape with some nicks + dings, finish checking, and other minor cosmetic wear. There is a spot at the top of the headstock that first resembled a cigarette burn, but it is actually a natural darker area in the wood with a pattern that matches on both the front and back of the headstock. Everything remains structurally sound with no cracks, breaks, or repairs. All electronics work and sound great.
