Up for sale, a 2006 Gretsch Malcolm Young Signature G6131MYR electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan as part of Gretsch's "Professional Series," this guitar is a faithful reissue of the classic Jet Firebird design, which is essentially a Duo Jet with a fire engine red top. Unique switching and a wraparound tune-o-matic style bridge are special touches of the Malcolm Young model, and this guitar is a fitting tribute to one of the most iconic rhythm guitarists to ever live. The instrument features a chambered mahogany body, and weighs a mere 6lbs 14oz, with a clear and powerful acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. With a 13 1/2" lower bout, this Gretsch has a very comfortable size and feedback resistant construction, with two classic Filter'Tron humbuckers that deliver an array of traditional Gretsch tones. Twang and Rockabilly snap jump from the bridge pickup, with a midrange fullness and harmonic zing that has made these popular pickups endure for decades. There's naturally more warmth and a throaty, punch in the neck position, and both pickups compliment each other well. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-50 strings, this Gretsch has excellent tone, solid intonation, and comfortable action. The mahogany neck has a fairly slender C shaped profile and plays very easily, with an ebony fretboard and nearly flawless fretwire. The frets have their full, original height and show only the faintest wear on frets 1-3 beneath the plain strings, with virtually no wear up the neck. The fretboard is bound with lightly aged white binding, and inlayed with pearloid thumbnail inlays that match vintage Gretsch spec. The nut has a full 1 5/8" width. On the headstock, the Gretsch logo is inlayed in pearloid, and the original chrome Gretsch branded tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.

All of the electronics work as they should, with the pair of Filter'Tron humbuckers wired to a Master Volume on the treble side body horn. A three-way pickup selector toggle and three-way tone switch round things out. All of the original hardware is intact, including the chrome G pointer knobs and wraparound bridge. The instrument is cosmetically extremely clean, with only a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the guitar as a whole, and light patina on the pickup covers. Overall, this guitar has been very well cared for and sparingly used. The original hardshell case and OK card is included.
