2014 Caulfield Burda Custom Guitarworks Stratocaster – Hardtail-Strat aus der kleinen amerikanischen Custom-Schmiede Caulfield Burda. Komplett in Handarbeit gefertigt. Made in USA. Body im dezenten Sunburst-Finish - laut Vorbesitzer handelt es sich um Ahorn - mit Hardtail / "String through Body" Saitenführung. Das verleiht dieser Gitarre einen dezenten Tele-Twang. Drei handgewickelte Singlecoil Pickups sorgen für den ausgewogenen Vintage-Sound. Die Verschaltung funktioniert genau so wie beim großen F. Wunderschön gemaserter "Quilted Maple Neck" mit mittlerem, runden Profil, Palisander-Griffbrett und 21 Vintage-Bünden. Gotoh-Mechaniken. Absolut klasse klingende Gitarre mit tollem Vintage-Ton (besser als F usa !). Kommt im gepolsterten Gigbag. Guter Zustand mit minimalen Gebrauchsspuren - siehe Bilder. Man merkt dem Instrument an, dass es sich um Handarbeit handelt. Der sehr dünne Lack (wahrscheinlich Nitro) ist etwas eingesunken, und die Poren und dezenten Unebenheiten des Holzes sind spürbar. Das hat eine sehr eigenen Touch und fühlt sich deutlich anders (erdiger / bodenständiger) an, als die industriellen Massenprodukte. 3,5 kg Gigbag Up for sale, a 2014 Caulfield Burda Custom Guitarworks Hardtail Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This handcrafted, USA made instrument was from the very last batch of guitars produced by Caulfield before he ceased production of his guitars and shifted his focus to pickup winding. This guitar is essentially new old stock and came to us directly from Caulfield, with premium tonewoods, handwound pickups, and quality craftsmanship for a fraction of the price of most USA made guitars! The value in this Caulfield is apparent from your first chord, and the maple body has an acoustic snap that translates well through the trio of single coil pickups. There's plenty of focus and warmth from the neck pickup, with the expected quack and cut in the 2 and 4 positions on the blade pickup selector switch. Caulfield's bodies and necks were custom made in the USA on CNC machines, and rest assured, the woods available here aren't your typical "off the shelf" parts used by many builders! This guitar weighs in at 8lbs 4oz and has been professionally dialed. The highly figured one-piece flame maple neck has a comfortable medium C profile with generous shoulders that fill the palm nicely, and a smooth satin finish. The slab rosewood fretboard sports medium jumbo frets that show zero wear, and the neck adheres closely to vintage Fender spec, with a 25 1/2" scale length, 7 1/4" fretboard radius, and 1 11/16" nut width. On the headstock, a set of Gotoh chrome tuning machines hold pitch well, and dual string trees ensure ideal break angle behind the nut. On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with the standard Stratocaster compliment of controls including dual tone knobs and a master volume, complete with a set of knurled chrome knobs. The hardtail string through construction of the body maximizes the sustain and acoustic resonance of the instrument, while also ensuring excellent tuning stability. The chrome control plates provide a great cosmetic look while also highlighting the figuring in the top. The finish was done in a similar fashion to an early 1900s Gibson "target burst," with a slightly offset reddish brown burst fading to deep black at the edges of the body. Given the few instruments produced by Caulfield, it's evident that each finish was an experiment in technique and application. As such, the finish was applied without grain filler and has a semi-gloss appearance that sinks into the pores of the wood and has a slightly more matte look on the inside edges of the body horns where less coats were applied. As this guitar did live in the Caulfield workshop for some time after completion, there are a few small dings and finish scratches from light use, but overall this is a very clean and well made instrument by a builder who clearly had a passion for his work.
