Description

BARRINGTON  BGW-800N  JAZZ GUITAR  1987  VERY RARE  ONLY 48 BUILT  SN:  870039 (No. 39 built in 1987)  ABOUT THIS GUITAR:  BARRINGTON GUITAR.   CLASSICAL ELECTRIC/ACOUSTIC:  From online:  "Barrington electric guitars were made in Japan at a factory that had at one time made neck-thru-body ESP's. The owner was/is famous Japanese guitar designer. The necks and bodies were assembled in Barrington, IL. Pickups were at first Barcus Berry. Very few first ones used an EMG-style active pickup, then switched to passive design (used by guys like Frank Zappa at the time). Eventually we went to Duncan pickups. Necks were maple, most had rosewood fingerboards, the two top-of-the-line solid bodies used ebony. Flat bodies used maple, the carved-top solid bodies used maple caps on mahogany body. All used Gotoh tuners and Floyd Rose style #1988 tremelos. The T.M. Stevens basses (4 and 5) were also made therewere made at the Japanese Terada factory, which is famous for making Ibanez, Washburn, Tokai, etc. Very high quality as well."  From the original catalog ad for this guitar:  "The 1987 Barrington BGW-800 boasts:  -Single cutaway thin-body electric with sound chambers for added resonance.  -Slim profile 25 1/2" scale neck with 21 fret EBONY Fretboard.  -TRANSDUCER Pickup under Saddle.  -PR400 Active Pre-Amp with Volume, Bass, and Mid-Treble Controls.  -It has the feel of an Electric guitar but the SOUND OF A TRUE CLASSICAL GUITAR."  Other features of this guitar:  -Glued in neck.  -BEAUTIFUL SUNBURST TOP WITH INTRICATE AND DETAILS LASER DESIGNS OVER THE SOUND CHAMBERS.  -OVERSIZED GOTOH CLASSICAL TUNERS.  This guitar was purchased directly from a former employee of BARRINGTON.  It was never sold due to the finish blemish on the front,  below the bridge.  COMES WITH ORIGINAL HARD SHELL CASE.  NOTES:  This is an extremely RARE guitar.  Until buying this one, I had never seen another.  It plays incredibly well and the sound is very tone full-smooth but full with added punch at the bottom end not normally found on electric "classical" guitars.  I think a lot of that tone comes from the sound chambers.  Also, the weight and balance makes it a perfect concert guitar.  It can be played comfortably standing or sitting.  A truly great unique guitar.  This one is NOS (New Old Stock) but has a blemish on the front.  Appears that someone put a piece of bubble wrap on it that stuck to it from heat.  We have not tried to remove it.  For that reason, we can only rate it as VERY GOOD. Please remember to read our policies and procedures listed below. The guarantee.1.               The guitar is in VERY GOOD cosmetic condition and is as described in this ad. 2.              The guitar is in fully operational condition.3.              Buyer has 48 hrs. to inspect the guitar or have it inspected.  Any defects, damage, misrepresentations or other problems must be reported within that time period in writing to the Seller.4.              In the case of damage during shipment, Buyer shall immediately inform seller of such damage and will maintain all original packing materials and box for inspection by the transportation company.5.              If other problems are discovered, Seller will either arrange for repair etc. at a location near the Buyer or request that the Buyer return the guitar to the Seller (Seller will reimburse Buyer for cost of shipment of guitar back to Seller).6.              Seller will correct indicated problems and ship the guitar back to the Buyer within 7 days of receiving it.7.              In the event that the guitar cannot be repaired or replaced with a similar item from Seller’s inventory, the Seller will give the Buyer the option of a Credit against current or future inventory of Seller or refund. For buyers outside the continental USA, please ask for shipping quote before buying this item.  Thank you.
