THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. Check out my !Be sure to add me to your ! *Today I am listing the latest installment of mouthpieces and other sax gear which I am selling on consignment for saxophonist Frank Catalano. For those of you who may not be familiar, Frank is a true heavy hitter in the jazz world and has been featured on multiple Grammy winning albums. He is also the quintessential gear hound, having amassed a collection of over 500 mouthpieces! He now endorses and plays Jody Jazz mouthpieces exclusively so he is purging some of his massive collection of mouthpieces he has acquired over many years. Be sure to check out my other items for more great mouthpieces from this collection. There will be more to come later, so add me to your favorites list and check back later to see new additions.
This listing is for a vintage Buescher Aristocrat Bb tenor saxophone. It is a series III (model #156) Aristocrat. The serial number 351,xxx indicates a c.1955 production date. These were the last of the great Buescher saxophones, produced roughly a decade before Selmer bought them out and downgraded the Aristocrat to a student level horn. This horn is being sold 'as is' for restoration purposes. It is not currently in playing condition. It will require an overall to be playable. It is in quite restorable condition though. It is complete with no missing parts. The body is straight, and the neck has not been pulled down or otherwise damaged. There are some small dings/pings, mostly on the bow and bell, but no significant dents. The bow guard retains its perfect original curve. I don't see any re-soldered joints. The ribbon style key guards are all perfectly straight. The lacquer is original and 95% intact with minimal scratching. It has aged to a nice dark honey hue. The key-work is all moving freely and rebounding properly when released. It has minimal mechanical wear, so it shouldn't need much swedging. This horn retains all of its original snap on resonators and gold plated Norton screw in springs. The pads are old (quite possibly original) and worn. It will need all new pads/corks/felts. The horn comes in its original case. The case is worn, but solid. The latches require some manipulation to lock in place. There is no mouthpiece/ligature/etc. included, but I will find an end plug for it so that the octave key doesn't get damaged during shipping. With a proper restoration this will be a great player. These mid-century Bueschers can hang with the best of em'!Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking!
