I'm selling my left handed 1984 "lawsuit era" Tokai Goldstar Sound, it is a TST-50 (or possibly 55) model. These were Tokai's very very accurate clones of Fender's 1950s Stratocasters, and were much better quality than Fender's guitars of the same period. Very well-regarded, vintage-accurate and well-built. Solid one-piece alder body, one-piece C/soft-V shaped maple neck with vintage 7.5" maple fretboard and skunk stripe, accurate Fender-shaped headstock, single ply scratchplate, and original shielding and wiring, and two point tremolo. It is fitted with left-handed Seymour Duncan SSL-1 vintage staggered Strat pickups, this was done by the previous owner.
Infinitely better quality woods and neck than Fenders of the same era, and arguably the best vintage-style Strats at this pricepoint. Apart from the pickups (which are effectively upgraded to better quality) it's all original, except I had it professionally refretted as when I initially got it the frets were flat and completely dead, but if anything that speaks to the imminent playability of the guitar. It's an excellent guitar, I'm just realising that on the whole I prefer Gibson types and get on better with humbuckers or at the very least a shorter scale. In very good condition for its age, couple of little dings but nothing that goes through the paint, electronics are good and the neck is straight with the new frets in it. Excellent, well-made Japanese vintage guitar for not-very-vintage money, what's not to love! Currently the output jack is crackly, this could simply be requiring cleaned but I've got a high-quality Switchcraft jack to replace it if cleaning it doesn't work, which I will either have done prior to sale or if you'd prefer to you're welcome to take with the guitar to have fitted yourself however you wish. Otherwise the guitar's in excellent condition, particularly for its age. Sounds great and plays really well.I'm also interested in trades for equal-value guitars so if anyone has anything they'd like to offer, please feel free to get in touch with me via messages and we can discuss it.I've set my postage as other courier (3-5 days) but it shouldn't take anywhere near five days and should hopefully be delivered within 48 hours, allowing up to three days for packing and payment. Buyer is also welcome to collect the guitar in person if preferable.
I have added some extra photos of the inside of the guitar now too, showing the pickups, original cloth wiring and serial markings.
