Story: Last fall , my friend here on the Eastern Shore called me and told me he had been bitten by the bluegrass bug and after toying with the mandolin, which he felt was too small for his fingers. He said he had fallen in love with the sound of the banjo and asked me what I recommended. We talked for a while and he said after investigating banjos and beginners forums, that he wanted to learn on a really good quality instrument with good "action" and tone. So he began his research and was proud when he called me and said he had bought a new Goldtone BG-250F professional bluegrass banjo with all the accessories. I congratulated him and hooked him up with a local bluegrass teacher. About a month ago he took his banjo to my friend, his prospective teacher, to see what he thought. My friend played it and was blown away. Note my friend (the teacher) is 67 and has been playing professionally for over 50 years. So last week my friend who owned the banjo called me and asked me if I knew anyone who wanted to buy a banjo. I, this time, was blown away. Why, I asked? He said it was because at his age (68) it was too overwhelming, and he had never even tried to play it after hearing my other friend run it through its paces. So I called my grand-nephew who has been looking for a good banjo and he said he wanted it.....so I bought it...with the understanding that my grand-nephew would pay me in installments. So, this past Saturday night he called me and said his wife had put her foot down once she heard the price, so I was stuck. So I decided to offer it on EBAY before putting it in my shop, as an instrument like this is too good to let my customers scratch it up while they ponder it. Buy it now is about $300 under value.....shipping weight is 25 pounds... This thing will blow your doors off....the volume from this heavy bell brass tone ring is off the charts, and the action is like lightning. Only thing you need is a strap and a penchant to play. Good luck! Only thing to call is some case wear (small scratch and ding) that happened from in and out of the car by owner...but that is the job of a case...to take the beating instead of the goods. |
