This listing is for a Custom Kramer eighties Birdsbeak Focus 3000 as pictured. This is an original eighties guitar assembled in the Japan form US parts and to say that they do not make them like that anymore is a complete understatement, but then again no one does except for the very high end and the boutique guys. Being a 3000 it is routed for a H-S-S variant of the classic strat style, although the body is thicker than any strat I have ever encountered. The original plan was to make an Eddie clone, but the guitar was just to good to butcher that way and so it was customised into an axe more like Eddies original, but without all the zebra striping, and the 5150's he toured with way back when and clearly the results are far better. It is a really solid instrument with a fairly chunky neck with a nicely curved fretboard more like a classic strat than say a Jackson or an Ibanez and overall has excellent intonation and sustain. The Trem is the top of the range Floyd Rose Original and the original generic pickups (which were the only thing that sort of let down the early Focus range compared to the US models btw) were replaced with a Seymour Duncan JB and the single Humbucker tortoiseshell plate with a single volume control. The neck and the frets are in great condition and the action is fantastic. The body has a few dings here and there that I have tried to show and the paintwork has that classic nitro cellulose fading of the period as you would expect, but this is a genuine patina of a thirty year old instrument and should not be confused with all those pre-aged knockoffs that try to look beat up and vintage. As for the flight-case, it is fairly battlescarred and one of the catches is a bit wonky, but it works well enough and would certainly be good enough for gigging with a bit of work. It was originally for a keyboard case that has seen a fair bit of mileage, but I removed all the old flaky foam from it and have used it a few times to transport the guitar wrapped up in a blanket with no mishaps and it will be sent (unless you collect) similarly but well thoroughly packaged in it with some extra support. I was always planning to get some foam and make a cut out, but since I have not really gigged in years now, it was never really a priority. Great guitar needs a new home.Thank you for looking. I am happy to accept UK Cheques or PayPal. I will combine postage costs where possible if asked and usually post out items as promptly as possible upon receipt of cleared payments. I am also happy to accept cash on collection too in the Glastonbury BA6 Postcode Area.
