For 2016, Gibson have added some super-cool features that set the SG Special apart from the crowd such as the small block inlays and mini Tribute humbuckers. Product DescriptionGibson 2016 SG Special Faded T - Satin EbonyThe Gibson SG Special is guitar that has popped up a couple of times in recent years but for 2016 they have decided to change it up a bit and make it a bit more focused on some of the early 70's models. With a set of classic mini humbucker style pickups and a beautiful set of finished this a guitar that will stand out in any collection.The body still uses the same slim all mahogany design with a just as thin mahogany neck topped with rosewood for the fretboard as a classic 70's model. Normally this wood combination would make the guitar extremely heavy but due to just how thin the neck and body are on this guitar it feels lighter than a lot of other guitars available today.It has a bit more of a bite when compared to a Les Paul with brighter overall sound but this has always been the classic SG sound. The sound that let amps rock harder and musicians have more freedom on stage.By using a set of tribute mini humbuckers in this guitar you immediately get a more vintage inspired sound than a larger full sized humbucker. This is thanks to its shorter spacing and fewer winds this gives a tighter and more focused sound that was highly desirable in the 70's as people were looking for new sounds to get with their high gain amplifiers.This brighter sound became the go to sound for a wide range of different experimental rock bands throughout the years as it was something new and different.
