Calton Cases are Back! Recently Keith Calton (original founder of Calton Cases UK) posted this message on his website, "I am pleased to announce that Calton Cases will soon be returning to North America. These cases will be authorized and legitimate Calton cases, delivering the same quality and endurance that have been the Calton hallmark for more than forty years but incorporating many new features and designs.  There will be more details announced in coming weeks. In the meantime I deeply appreciate your continued support and enthusiasm." Calton cases are now being handcrafted in Austin, Texas.  These cases feature all the new design elements that Keith had engineered into the latest rendition of his UK cases. You will immediately notice the new cases are lighter (yet reinforced to be stronger yet), with more gentle curves overall and newly designed exterior bumpers.  They also include a shoulder strap, 5 locking latches, & embedded RFID security chip (read more below). If Calton Cases are new to you, learn more about these legendary travel cases: Calton Cases makes the world’s finest instrument cases for the world’s finest instruments. Calton's database contains hundreds of different instrument patterns. We may already have your instrument pattern on file, but we still get new patterns every week for new models from all sorts of builders big and small. Calton hand makes each case individually. The exterior shell uses custom re-enforced composite, the interior of your case is constructed using the exact dimensions of your instrument, enveloping it in the highest grade & density foam and finished in the custom velour of your choice. The result is a perfect custom fit that provides the maximum level of protection available, in the color combination that matches you & your instrument. It is the perfect & proven solution for professional touring musicians. Their product line is simple to describe. If it is a traditional stringed instrument, we are likely have made a custom case for it already or we can. This includes all sizes and types of guitars, mandolins, and banjos. Calton custom fitted composite instrument cases are rugged, well balanced and attractive hard shelled cases with interiors tailored to each instrument. Each half of every case is hand moulded in a single piece, with no seams to separate. All hardware is high quality plated steel, attached to the case with rivets and reinforcing plates. Careful attention is paid to the placement of the leather handle in order to provide the optimum in comfort and balance. A PVC strip completely edges both top and bottom halves of the case. This strong, flexible strip, combined with the natural water repellent qualities of fiberglass, provides an almost perfect seal against the elements. Case interiors are hand crafted from high quality foam padding, using up to 15 measurements and a template of the instrument. All interior surfaces are finished in crushed velour manufactured to our specifications and the pick box is topped with a large foam pad that cushions the neck. The neck is further protected with a padded marine plywood guide that restricts side-to-side movement. Calton Cases are entirely handcrafted, with a choice of 8 exterior and 6 interior colors. All Calton Cases are molded from glass fiber and resin, ensuring that there are no seams to separate. Exterior colors currently available are: Red, White, Green, Brown, Blue, Yellow, Burgundy, and Black. Calton Case interiors are handcrafted from 3 grades of fire retardant high quality foam padding and all interior surfaces are finished in crushed velour. Interior colors available are red, grey, green, brown, blue, and burgundy. RFID Microchip - Added Security All Calton cases now include an embedded RFID microchip for added security. Should you ever elect to register your case for electronic scanning, there is a one-time fee of $40 to register your Calton case.
