Used 2005 Rickenbacker 4004L Mapleglo 5 string bass. The bass is crazy light at about 8 pounds. It is a player and a looker. The string spacing is 2 1/2" wide at the bridge and the same size as a Carvin 5 string at the nut. The bridge is Schaller, the neck pickup is a Rickenbacker hb-1 and the bridge pickup is a modified single coil Rickenbacker 3001 with a new cover. The bridge pickup sounds very aggressive soloed, and the neck pickup soloed gives you a nice smooth tone. It is wired Volume, Volume, Tone with 500k ohm pots. It has old style Rickenbacker knobs. The humbucker neck pickup gives it a big full bottom, and the bridge single coil gives it the Rickenbacker bite. The wiring allows blending of the pickups to bring out subtle tones. The bass is very clean and has no fretware.It comes with a Rickenbacker case that has a little damage.As many of you know I convert 4003 and 4004 4 string basses into 5 string basses for others, and for myself. So I have done quite a few. This one is a particularly nice playing Rickenbacker 5 string bass. I have to fight a strong urge to keep this one for myself. As many of you know I am a big fan of modified 4004 basses. This bass gives you the Rickenbacker growl and 5 strings. The pickups cover all 5 strings evenly and it is easy to play fingerstyle.5 string Rickenbackers are pretty rare. Rickenbacker has made only one in the last 15 years.
