Description Brand: Acetone Country/Region of Manufacture: Japan Era: 1960's Model: Rhythm Ace
For sale is a vintage 1960's Ace Tone Rhythm model FR-1 in VG to Excellent condition. Appears to be all original and fully operational including original instructions, foot switch and cord. Also includes several older photo copied pages of detailed schematics and technical adjustment instructions. I've never seen such details offered or available before. The condition is VG-Excellent in my opinion. All buttons and functions work well. There is minor wear but overall nice condition. There is some older tape on some buttons used to help ID the user's rhythm that I haven't attempted to remove. The carrying handle is intake and useable but has wear. It's really the most complete and coolest Ace Tone examples one can find. Below is a summary and history off the net. Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-1 has a secured place in drum machine history as the first transistorised machine to appear on the market in 1967. It managed to pip the Korg Mini Pops 7 at the post by a matter of months). The Rhythm Ace was the brainchild of Ikutaro Kakehashi, (founder of Ace Tone and later, Roland in 1972). With this in mind, it is fairly safe to draw the conclusion that the FR-1 was effectively the first of the Roland TR (Transistorised Rhythm) series of drum machines.
