Description

Years ago I had the opportunity to acquire this violin from the estate of a renowned classical Guitarist and instrument collector. Along with hundreds of thousands of dollars of guitas he left his grandson his violin collection of which I purchased 2 violins and 4 bows. Years later this violin clearly labeled Mathias Eberl Salzburg and Germany. It has remained unrestored. There are several splits on the top that need proper gluing and a new bridge made for it. There was a bridge blank in the case when I bought it that will be included in the auction as well as the case it self a very well built American made case. The first two dates on the level are printed and the last two appear to be written in by hand with some sort of a quill pen as the lines are very fine. The left portion of the label is not rough on the edges but smooth and square and says Germany it appears that this area did not have glue under it and it has aged differently then the rest of the label. This violin is ready for profesional restoration to take place. I have owned it for too long and have. It had it restored yet so it's time to let it go.
