The Carr Mercury is a full featured, low powered, all-tube combo guitar amp that allows you to turn up and get the visceral sound and feel of an amp in power tube overdrive, while staying at a reasonable household and/or studio output levels. The amp is a surprisingly loud 8 watts at full power, and the built-in attenuater switch lets you dial the output down to 2 watts, 1/2 watt, and 1/10 watt, allowing real power tube overdrive even at whisper levels. The Mercury is very touch sensitive, with a huge range of tones available. From clean American 60s tones, to British cleans, aggressive crunches, and creamy overdrives…. The built-in Spring Reverb is lusciously rich, the tone controls sound great throughout their range, and there’s a HF cut-switch that rolls off the highs for a mellower, warmer tone that sounds real nice with overdriven settings. Like with all Carr amps, you get in-house crafted solid pine dovetailed cabinets, bleeding edge power supply components mixed with Mid-Century signal elements, and true point to point wiring. Vintage Guitar declared the Mercury’s sound the ‘Tone of the Gods.’ And you can enjoy that tone on stage, in the studio, and in the bedroom. You always get the feel and juice of an amp turned up to full volume. 3 12AX7 tubes in the pre-amp; a single EL-34 in the power section. Finally, the Ostrich-skin cover is pretty cool looking, and was a $200 option. This amp is in mint condition, with all the original packaging. I have had it for about six months, and have had it out of the house once (for a gig at The Kennedy Center, which I did on the 2-watt setting). Hate to part with it, but I have way too much gear and no time to play, so…. Please write if you have any questions. Thank you for your interest. Good luck bidding.
