This is a Besson Sovereign 926 soprano cornet. Age unknown, but manufacture of this model began in 1988. It comes with the usual two mouthpiece receivers (one for soprano, one for trumpet), a mouthpiece (Arnolds & Sons 5C) and its original Besson hard case (but no key for the locks). Finish is clear lacquer over mostly brass, with some nickel plated highlights. Gives a nice overall look. Condition is good for its age partly because it has been very little used (although well-maintained) for the last 10 years. Please look closely at the photos to check the condition of the lacquer, which has some wear in the to-be-expected places plus a little pitting and a couple of chips. No visible dents or dings. Of course none of this affects the way it plays - it is free-blowing and sounds as it should. All valves move smoothly and with minimal 'play'. All slides and triggers function correctly.Being sold on behalf of my brass band as it is now surplus to our requirements.
