Starway.The Starway electric guitars were made in Japan during the mid sixties and were actually named''Starway'' by the importer. This one looks much like the Teiscos and even more, the Guyatones of the period with its metal scratchplate and rocker switches.Starway is a name associated with Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks fame, and now the Eastman Companytogether with Pete Shelley are reissueing Starways; but this is a sixties original.It has a striped metal scratchplate with two chromed pickups on black bases - each with volume and tone controlstogether with two on/off rocker switches marked ''Mic '1 ON'' and ''Mic 2 ON''.The bridge is chromed and there is a tremolo tailpiece but missing its cover and the arm. The neck is inmaple and bolted on, and the rosewood twenty-two fret fingerboard has very unusual rectangularfret markers. The headstock is very long, and has the original tuners and the ''Starway'' plate.There are one or two marks only on the guitar - it is fully working and plays well, it comes in itsoriginal rectangular case and is original apart from the top strap pin!
