Thanks for viewing my auction which features a 1969 Gibson A-12 mandolin in mostly original condition. I say "mostly" because the celluloid heel cap deteriorates over time and this one was no longer there. I had a local luthier build one from maple and pin it into the neck block for added strength. There is a small plastic cover to trim it out. There are two small cracks in the one-piece back plate which came from stress from the missing heel cap. There are a few tiny marks but nothing major and I don't think the pickguard was ever off since new. There is no fret wear, indeed this instrument looks almost unplayed. The serial and model number are written in pencil under the bridge base and I think this was done at the factory. Since Gibson was building these cautiously during this era the top is rather thick and the volume is rather thin. It projects well over a good mic but would get lost in a jam session. However it is a beautiful piece of Gibson history that you might really enjoy. Of course, a pickup really makes it come alive and it plays like a dream with a mild V-shaped neck. It will ship in an Epiphone shaped hardshell case and carefully packed. Thanks for looking and God bless and Happy Mother's Day.
