Vintage 1964 Gibson A-5 Mandolin You are looking at a Gibson A-5 Mandolin. I purchased this instrument in 1975. I have played it carefully through the years, and kept it humidified in the winter. It is in great condition as you can see from the photos.………. I hate to let it go….. but I play my Gibson F-5 now, and it just sits there, It really should be played. It has a wonderful seasoned sweet tone, with plenty of bark. This is really an "A " Mandolin with plenty of class….. the Red sunburst, and the two point. It seems there are not too many around, so that makes it special. They do not come up for sale often. It has a pick-up installed under the bridge. (use it with a standard inline pre-amp) It has the original Gibson case. I had the metal parts gold plated, and the buttons replaced on the tuners. It looks, plays and sounds fantastic! There are no issues, and barely any scratches on it. Usually instruments of his age have finish issues.... no problems with this one. …. (I have really been careful of it). I did some checking online, and this same model and year sold for $2650.00. I know the market has changed with more choices, out there, but this one really was made well…… Better than some I have seen in the 1970’s . I am happy to answer any questions, or supply more pictures if you like. I have done my best to describe this instrument to the best of my ability, and I have a perfect rating. I am offering a return , but with conditions……. I will reserve back $175.00 on a return, and the buyer pays shipping cost, and returns it in the exact condition it is received. ***I just had a question regarding Fret wear...... Never checked it, all these years..... It just always played and sounded great.... There is some wear, but not causing any buzzing or fret issues. Thanks very much.
