Read moreabout the condition Brand: Moeck Skill Level: Extended upper range Type: Tenor Country/Region of Manufacture: Germany Model: Ehlert
Modern design by Ralph Ehlert, produces a full-bodied, round, reedy tone, with strong lower register, powerful mid-range, and clear upper range capable of extended notes easily up to high E, and F. It's a big instrument, measuring 26-3/4", fipple to foot. Two easily operable silver plate keys for low C and C#. Adjustable thumb rest with neck-strap eyelet. I had the thumb rest repositioned by Von Heune; the old screw holes were filled, and are visible but not disfiguring. Tuning is A=442.I bought this instrument to replace the same Ehlert model in ebony, because this Costello Boxwood weighs fully six-ounces less than the ebony. The big tone works well in ensembles and mixed consorts. The extended range gives access to contemporary music, with extended techniques. Bought it in 2014-2015, from Von Heune in Brookline, Massachusetts. After much playing and consideration, I had to admit it's a bit too long for my reach, and have bought a traditional baroque tenor to replace it.
