Up for sale, a 1961 Gibson LG-0 in excellent condition, with a warm, detailed tone. A crack-free instrument produced before the days of bolt-on (or plastic) bridges were introduced on this model, this LG-0 has slender and tall braces that allow it to really sing and project. The mahogany body has a more detailed and delicate sound than most LG-0s, with sweet top end and bass response that stays balanced and restrained, never getting too boomy. Professionally setup with low action and fresh 12-53 bronze strings, this is an LG-0 that would be a perfect secret weapon in the studio or on stage. The neck has a C shaped profile that stays fairly slender in depth as per spec for 1960-61. It's a very comfortable and fast feeling profile that has just enough roundness in the shoulders. The original frets are intact and show moderate, uniform wear down at the nut with lighter flattening of the crowns beneath the plain strings until roughly the 7th fret, and sparingly little wear further up the board. The neck is straight, the truss rod is responsive, and the action stays nice and low all the way up the neck, with a new compensated saddle that has plenty of room for future adjustment if desired. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the open back strip tuners are original and turn smoothly with straight shafts.Cosmetically and structurally this is a very nice example, and the ladder braces are solid and well secured. The bridge sits flush with the top on all four edges and the top is nice and flat with very little pull on the lower bout behind the bridge. Crack-free and featuring the original nitro lacquer natural finish over the mahogany body and neck, the guitar shows only faint finish overspray around the bridge edges where this component was reglued in the past (common as the edges sometimes lift over the decades). There are some requisite finish scratches, scuffs and nicks from the past half century, but overall this is a fine example of an early LG-0!The original chipboard case is included and in great shape, with working latches and the stock handle. Please check out our shop "Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar" on the web, and feel free to call us directly with any questions at 206.399.8518.Shipping in the continental USA will be $70, fully insured and shipped via FedEx Ground.
