Up for sale, a 1964 Hagstrom Model II Bass in 100% original, collector-grade condition and in good working order. A remarkably clean and early Hagstrom, the model II has a solid wood body while still having the bubbly acrylic pickguard, two pickup design and identical pickup/tone options of the Model I which was produced concurrently.

Featuring the famous slender "Kings Neck," this Hagstrom has a fast comfortable feel with a 30" scale length. The tonal range between the pickups is quite surprising, with mellow, Motown thump on the neck pickup and a bit of growl and punch when you flip over to the bridge position. The solid rosewood saddle is another essential element of the Hagstrom sound, with a warmth and surprising clarity that you can only experience on one of these vintage Swedish instruments! The bass weighs in at 7lbs. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and dialed in with roundwound 45-100 strings, this Hagstrom is ready for stage and studio use.The maple neck has a slender C shaped profile with a slab teak fretboard and 1 1/2" nut width that will feel familiar to any Jazz Bass player. The original frets are remarkably clean, with their full factory height, well rounded crowns and virtually no wear. On the headstock, the stock tuners turn smoothly, and all of the original decals are intact including the Hagstrom logo on the face, the "Kings Neck" foil label on the back, and the "Made in Sweden" decal on the top of the headstock. All of the electronics work as they should, and the switches all engage smoothly. The molded plastic pickguard is in great overall condition, along with a structurally sound input jack and an immaculate control plate. Cosmetically, the bass is particularly clean with shiny chrome and the original raised Hagstrom logo across the bass side upper bout. Aside from light vertical lacquer checking and a few small stray nicks on the body as a whole, this bass shows no notable wear.Easily the cleanest (and one of the earliest) Hagstrom basses we've ever had in the shop, this Model II has been well kept for over 50 years and plays as well as the day it left the factory.
The original hardshell case is included. This case boasts a form fit purple plush interior, with clean gray exterior, working latches and original handle.
