Description
Model: Piccolo Country/Region of Manufacture: France
Skill Level: Professional

This is a rare Couesnon Monopole piccolo in a beautiful cocus wood. Absolutely no cracks in this instrument. It plays easily with a sweet and focused sound characteristic of the finest French instruments of this era. The Piccolo's keys are silver. Embouchure hole is small and crisp. The piccolo has just been completely overhauled - new head cork, tenon cork, pads, and freshly oiled.  Stamp on the headjoint reads "Couesnon et Cie - Fournisseurs de L'Armee - Paris" with the monopole stamp and "hors concours" stamp of 1900. The monopole line was Couesnon's professional line of instruments. The piccolo plays at A= 440 with the head all the way in and in the key of D-flat, which is typical of these ring key piccolos This Piccolo has been tested by Metronome Korg TM-50 system. The test indicated that Piccolo has Standard Tuning 440Hz = A and I am not Piccolo player. This piccolo is Circa 115 years old. This is the most historical Piccolo in Paris in 1900. It sounds to me that this historical Piccolo is more valuable than Haynes or Powel Grenadilla Piccolo!! This piccolo has been adjusted by pro flute technician.Sounding length is 248 mm. Total length is 303 mm (11 7/8"). Embouchure hole measures 10.9 x 8.8mm. The instrument comes with a period case, which I believe is not original, but is fully functional.  This piccolo comes from a non-smoking home. The piccolo will be shipped with insurance and signature required. Handling charges for international buyers is to cover insurance.
