Here for sale is this circa 1980 Kawai FIII (F3) electric guitar.With its obvious nod to Alembic its a high quality guitar with through neck , carved wings and double octave neck with rosewood fretboard.The original pickups are active however the neck pickup was faulty in one of the 3 switch positions so we installed a vintage Dimarzio Al Dimeola which looks the part and sounds great and is probably worth a few quid on its own. Originally the 3 way switch (one for each pickup) offered a choice of normal, active boost and distortion , this is still the case for the original bridge but the Dimarzio , utilising the original 3 way switch has normal, coil tap , series. The active pickup requires a battery housed in the rear cavity. and the 4 way rotary knob on the lower horn is the pickup selector switch for off, bridge , bridge and neck and neck The distortion setting on the original pickup leaves a little to be desired and it really depends on what amp your putting it through to how much distortion you get. I personally don't think its the best setting but it is what it is.The original neck pickup will be included in the sale but is faulty.The guitar has a few indents and marks as shown in the pictures. The strings are recent and it plays nicely.
