Great piece. I believe is the same opening that Bob Mintzer uses but I'm not sure.Tried it a few times but I always come back to my Navarro Bop Boy.
They are very similar. I actually like the sound of this one a little better. It is a little more crispy and present with less mid range and more highs and lows. Great all around piece. But for some reason I'm more comfortable with the resistance of the Bop Boy and I always end up sounding like me anyway (for better or for worse) so I'm letting this one go.
These early models are much more valuable than the new ones and they are getting hard to find. Specially in this condition. The finish is a lot nicer. They also have a narrower body so, unlike the new ones, they can be used with almost any tenor ligature for hard rubber. The new ones are too big for some ligatures that I like , like Vandoren Optimum or Ishimori. I dont see any scratches or flaws. The table is very reed friendly.Tip and rails are perfect.
