2012 Peceny F5 Custom Mandolin Pro-grade deluxe hand-carved mandolin in hard case. Stunning quality F5 that more than holds its own against other mandolins I own or have owned (Collings, Weber, Prucha, Carver).  Fit and finish are excellent with top grade materials used throughout.  Czech luthiers have long been considered amongst the best bluegrass instrument makers in the world, specifically banjos, mandolins and fiddles.  Parts for Gibson's high-end banjos are still hand made in the Czech Republic.  This is a hand crafted mandolin from a single luthier meaning every part & process is from the same hands. It has a deep and woody chop with enough volume to cut through other instruments and happily keeps up with banjos & fiddles on melody lines.  This is a loud mandolin but very articulated. Plays perfectly with a low, easy playing action, it would go lower still but you then start to compromise on tone which would be a tragedy on an instrument that sounds this good. It has been stored in a hard case and looked after, but played regularly and has marks from my ‘enthusiastic’ playing.  I play it hard and have left some pick wear on the top, this could be covered up with a pick guard if you really wanted but the benefit of it being played hard is that it has opened up early - it already sounds like a 10 year old instrument. The neck is a slim, “Gibson-esque’ profile, it’s superbly carved and plays sweetly al the way up the neck but I have a preference for a more clubby neck and that is the only reason this one is for sale.  I have already ordered the same spec mandolin but with a big fat neck profile to match my others. The only real way to know an instrument is to play it and so I’d advise coming round to play it first (it won't disappoint) but I can post if you're too far away.
