At Beyond Guitars, this banjo is one of our favorites of ALL TIME!Before I explain, it might need a little introduction. The Gold tone CC-100 line of banjos are an outstanding choice for beginners and intermediate skilled players, with lots of great features- The options that this particular CC-100 banjo model has make it one of the best ever. Beginning with the core banjo; the CC-100 banjo embodies all the things you'd want to ask for, even if you don't know what they are yet. The quality begins with the maple rim. Gold Tone utilizes traditional construction techniques using 18 shoes and brackets. So far, I could be describing either an openback banjo or a resonator banjo. This banjo is designed to convert between resonator and open back banjo types quite easily. Simply remove the resonator thumb screws, and remove the hook nuts that attach the brackets and you’re done! See the photos on this ad to see what it looks like converted. The CC-100 has the R added for Resonator. The /P is added for the thin rim and the advanced style of quality, smooth planetary tuners. These features upgrade the banjo to a high standard of enjoyment. Of course quality tuners are important to keep it in tune through heavy playing. The Planetary design is the straight through reduction gear tuners that are a highly desired professional grade. The additional value is that if you play or want to learn either clawhammer/frailing / old time banjo, the resonator comes off leaving a pure openback banjo of high grade. If you prefer your bluegrass playing, this banjo is ready with the maple resonator and attaching hardware. Removing and replacing the resonator brackets is simple and quick, and leaves no holes or threads behind because It is held in place with the hook nuts.
