Besson New Standard 4-valve compensating, 1970. I am the second owner of this instrument and my purchase was in 2001-during the past 10 years this instrument has earned me a paychecks in a range of ensembles from the Pendleton Round-Up/Happy Canyon Pit Orchestra to the Oregon East Symphony. The previous owner bought it in 1970. The thing I love most about this instrument is the valves; the valve are fast and smooth as though new (1st valve shows a little age and, as is common, is a little stiff feeling when taken out for oiling but still works smoothly and flawlessly-the other three valves extract without resistance). As the photos depict, there is some wear on the lacquer and there is small crimp in the bell caused sometime in the past by the previous owner (the bell still rang true, so I never had it repaired). I played with the solo euph player for the President's Own Marine Band, and he plays a Besson New Standard and the serial number on his euph was only a couple numbers off this one (his was silver and in perfect condition however). I love this horn but it's time to move on. Included is a gold-plated Schilke 51D 'English shank' mouthpiece and an old, heavily constructed wooden case. Shipping weight is just about exactly 20-lbs.
