Up for sale, a 2006 Gibson SG Special in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Part of the "Faded" series of instruments, this SG features a satin Cherry nitro lacquer finish, alnico humbuckers, and the quality you expect from a genuine USA-made Gibson. The 490R and 490T humbuckers have plenty of power and punch, interacting well with high gain amps and delivering crisp cleans as well. This SG weighs in at just 7lbs, balances well on a strap, and has a prominent acoustic voice that translates well through the pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this SG is dialed in with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and solid intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a fairly slender 60s-style C shaped profile with just enough roundness in the shoulders to feel both substantial and fast. The original vintage-style fretwire is remarkably clean with well rounded crowns and virtually no wear. Aside from the satin finish, the unbound neck and dot inlay are the only things separating this Special from an SG Standard, and the guitar boasts the same great playability and range of tones as its gloss finished big brother. The nut width is a full 1 11/16". On the headstock, the Gibson Deluxe Kluson-style tuning machines turn very smoothly, hold pitch well, and have classic vintage appeal with lightly greened tulip buttons. All of the electronics work as they should, and the guitar is quite clean cosmetically too, with only light buckle rash central to the back (not through the finish) and modest wear on the batwing pickguard in the pick path. Overall, this guitar looks great with minty chrome and black bell knobs and a Cherry nitro lacquer finish that highlights the grain of the mahogany body. The original Gibson padded gigbag is included. Please check out our shop "Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar" on the web, and feel free to call us directly with any questions at 206.399.8518.
