This no reserve auction is open to international bidders. Here we have a Vintage Rogers wood Dyna-Sonic snare drum, as shown on page 15 of the 1967 Rogers catalog. This drum was the very same model that Buddy Rich used, during his tenure as a Rogers endorser. The serial number is 10179, which would date this drum to around 1967. The 5” X 14” all wood shell is factory wrapped in a beautifully mellowed White Marine Pearl (WMP). The pearl wrap is in superb condition, with no splits, cuts, or cracks and has faded just enough to give it that authentic vintage vibe. The interior is also factory finished in the natural maple (fruit wood stain) that Rogers was famous for with their Dyna-Sonics. All of the metal parts are brilliantly chrome plated, with just a very tiny amount of pin point pitting on the lugs and hoops. The snare guards show just a bit more, but all in all, the chrome is in excellent condition. The drum is in round and the bearing edges are as perfect as the day this beautiful drum left the factory. This remarkably preserved Dyna-Sonic comes equipped with 10 Rogers “Beavertail” lugs, 20 Rogers tension rods, 2 Rogers triple flanged hoops and a Rogers internal muffler, as well as an era correct Rogers clock face strainer and butt combination. This also has the original Rogers Dyna-Sonic snare frame. I have installed a new set of Puresound snare wires, designed specifically for vintage Rogers Dyna-Sonic snare drums. The tension rod washers are newer replacements. The only issues I can see, one screw holding the mounting plate to the strainer is a bit longer (see photo) and probably is a replacement. Also, the tuning knob on the clock face strainer is ever so slightly bent at the bottom of the threaded portion. This is not even visible and doesn’t hinder the tuning of the drum in the slightest. Bottom line, this wonderful vintage snare drum is in remarkably preserved condition and would be a welcome addition for even the most fussy of vintage drum collectors. More to the point, it is a definite must have for the Rogers aficionado. Shipping and handling to the Domestic U.S.A. is $25. For international buyers, I use ebay's Global shipping program.
On Jun-01-17 at 06:46:23 PDT, seller added the following information:Someone with a sharp eye caught that the snare wires in the 4th photo were not correct and that they were set up wrong on the snare frame. I have since replaced the wires in the photo with Puresound (Dyna-Sonic) snare wires, then set up the snare properly.
On Jun-03-17 at 04:39:17 PDT, seller added the following information:Even though ebay will not let me post any more photos to the auction, if any interested buyers would like to see the snare set up with the replacement puresound wires, ebay will let me send one to you via private message.
