Awesome antique banjo. Local estate sale find. 5 string. Appears to be real abalone but not positive. There are a few small pieces of abalone missing. I am no banjo expert so my lingo may be incorrect. The outer ring is brass and has 20 lugs around it. I took this banjo to a local music shop for info. They said the head was older and unmarked. They mentioned that the tuners had been replaced with Grover tuners at some point. They were very impressed at how the tuners were installed. They also said that the scale was slightly different than current banjos. It sounds great. The inner wooden ring is signed T Lewis Nov. 11th 1888. There is chords to a song taped on inside of head. This is a really cool one if a kind banjo. Please ask any questions if I have left something out. I am selling this antique banjo as a piece of artwork. If you want to play it that's great. If you buy it it's yours to do with what you will. No refunds. Partial or otherwise.
