Please contact me if there are any problems or questions.Kamaka HP-1 Pineapple Uke Serial #133077 Purchased Hugo Helmer 9/25/14 Information from the website:Kamaka's signature ukulele, designed and patented in 1928 by Samuel K. Kamaka. The Pineapple has a unique, oval-shaped body and produces a resonant, mellow sound distinct from the traditional figure-eight.
Overall length: 20-1/8" Scale length: 13-9/16" Total # frets: 16 Frets to the body: 12 Includes custom fit official Kamaka hard case “Kamaka Hawaii selects only the finest quality wood for its instruments. The primary wood used by Kamaka is from Acacia koa, the largest endemic tree in Hawaii. Koa is one of the most desired woods for ukuleles because of its beautiful color, grain patterns and tonal quality. Koa wood is generally grown on the Big Island in areas that were once fields of molten lava. The demand for Kamaka instruments greatly exceeds the supply. Authorized dealers report being unable to keep our ukuleles on their shelves and because of our backlog, there is a mandated waiting period before our dealers can re-order.”
The guitar has a waist to sit in your lap, but with the pineapple shape you are not going to miss out on anything you get from the waist on a standard ukulele. What you get is a little more soundboard to open the vibration of the top in essentially the same size instrument. "The big secret of anything is quality control, but for us and my dad it has been selection of wood. Koa has been a traditional wood that has been fabulous for us -- it has the vibration quality." — Sam Kamaka Jr. Kamaka Hawaii, Inc. Maker of Hawaii's Finest Ukuleles Since 1916 Welcome to Kamaka Hawaii, Inc., makers of Hawaii's finest ukuleles, and the home of the original Pineapple Ukulele! Kamaka Hawaii was established in 1916 in the Territory of Hawaii, and is a family-owned and operated business. The Kamaka family has been dedicated to building skillfully-handcrafted ukuleles for nearly a century. The heritage of ukulele making at Kamaka Hawaii is preserved by second and third generation Hawaiian luthiers, as well as the many talented craftsmen at the Kakaako factory in Honolulu. A tradition of excellence is the foundation of Kamaka Hawaii's reputation. Kamaka ukuleles are world-renown, and possess a lasting, rich tone that cannot be duplicated. The process of making a Kamaka ukulele is an art that involves design, redesign, and experimentation to produce instruments with outstanding tonal and playing characteristics. Many of the techniques used today have evolved from practices developed by founder Sam Kamaka Sr. This ensures consistency in quality, resulting in ukuleles that are often handed down to future generations and cherished as valued family heirlooms. Kamaka ukuleles begin as rough Hawaiian koa lumber, and are meticulously hand built into exquisite musical instruments enjoyed by ukulele players and audiences across the globe. The Kamaka name is synonymous with superior Hawaiian craftsmanship, and Kamaka ukuleles are world-class instruments enjoyed by everyone from elementary school beginners to professional musicians. Many internationally famous ukulele players prefer Kamaka ukes, including Jake Shimabukuro, who plays a specially designed instrument created for him by Casey Kamaka.
